Q: How long have you been practicing bikram yoga?
A: About 4 .5 years.  I started way back in November 2007.

Q: When and where did you do your training?
A: Fall 2008 in Acupulco, Mexico – where ‘hot yoga’ becomes extra hot.

Q: If you weren’t teaching bikram yoga, what would you be doing?
A: I would still be working long hours as an industrial engineer. I have to say that doing bikram yoga is certainly much more enjoyable!

Q: What is your #1 guilty pleasure?
A: Sleep and sleep … when I don’t feel like doing anything. After always having trouble resting I feel like I learned to sleep when I came to Auckland … now it seems like I’m trying to make up those past years of lack of sleep!

Q: What do you love most about bikram yoga?
A: It’s my sanctuary ... the place I feel safest is within the corners of my mat.

Q. Do you have a ‘teaching trademark’?
A. I honestly don’t know! If you think you’ve spotted it during class, you’ll have to come tell me afterwards.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about teaching?
A: Seeing the excitement on a student’s face when they make a break-through or you compliment them on how well they are doing.

Q: When and why did you start bikram yoga?
A: In September 2007 after being asked to go many times - but had said no as I thought I would just internally combust in the heat as I always had trouble sweating!

Q: What have you personally gained from bikram yoga?
A: Patience, focus, and calmness as well as a great sense of achievement … not to mention a huge family/community.

Q: For you, what’s the most challenging part of bikram yoga?
A: Keeping up with the washing in winter! I guess it changes depending on what I’m experiencing but nothing seems too challenging these days.

Q: What is your #1 distraction during class?
A: Seeing one of the students out of the corner of my eye from a different angle to teaching and noticing an adjustment they could make.

Q: What’s something people would be surprised to know about you?
A: I have an egg donation baby! Her name is Isabella and she lives in Dunedin. She’s 5 years old and I feel like being able to give her as a gift to my dear friends is one of my biggest achievements.
